Located in northwestern Tanzania, the Serengeti National Park spans an impressive 14,763 square kilometers, covering the Mara and Simiyu areas. Its name, derived from the Maasai language, translates to "endless plains." Renowned for its vast savannas, verdant forests, and breathtaking meadows, Serengeti offers a safari experience like no other.
The Serengeti National Park is famed for its diverse wildlife and the world-famous wildebeest migration, one of Africa’s seven natural wonders. Over a million wildebeests migrate annually across the Serengeti Plains in search of fresh pasture. Visit in February to witness the remarkable spectacle of over 8,000 wildebeest calves born daily.
The park is also home to around 500 bird species, including Secretary Birds, African Fish Eagles, White-backed Vultures, Lesser Flamingos, and Ostriches. Bird enthusiasts will find the Serengeti a paradise for spotting rare and unique birds.
December to July is the best time to witness the wildebeest migration, while June to October offers excellent predator sightings.
